HIPAA and hitech
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) established national standards for electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health plans, and employers. It also specifies a series of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, as well as organizational and documentation requirements for covered entities to use to assure the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of electronic protected health information.
With the advent of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), USCB America must and does conduct itself as a covered entity and adheres to the rigorous standards its clients are required to meet. Security awareness is constant and ongoing. USCB America is acutely aware of our covered entity clients' notification guidelines and other requirements as set forth by the HITECH Act and meets these requirements.
USCB America is committed to conducting business in strict and full compliance of the law. We have developed a proprietary Compliance Program that requires of every prospective employee to pass an extensive background check and, if hired, undergo a rigorous training and comprehension evaluation relating to USCB's HIPAA and HITECH policies. USCB America has both a full time Compliance Officer and Security Officer to monitor employees' conduct and oversee all aspects of complying with the various privacy laws.
